Scott A. Oxley is a senior vice president for EMHS and the president of Acadia Hospital, EMHS’ behavioral health hospital located in Bangor, Maine.

The Road to Here

For almost 25 years, Scott has worked within EMHS in a number of roles with increasing responsibility. Prior to his current role, Scott was the chief operating officer for Acadia. Other roles include vice president of Financial Services for EMHS, vice president of Corporate Services for EMHS, president of Affiliated Healthcare, the for-profit arm of EMHS, and the interim chief financial officer and treasurer for EMHS. Prior to coming to EMHS in 1993, Scott worked for two national accounting firms (Ernst & Young and KPMG Peat Marwick).
Scott is a certified public accountant, holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Maine and a bachelor's degree in public accounting from Husson University. He is currently active in a number of civic organizations in addition to many years of leadership to the youth as a Boy Scout leader and coach of youth athletics.

Guiding Principle

Scott’s guiding principle is accountability.  He says accountability “starts with yourself before you can ask the same of others.”

Proudest Accomplishments

Scott has three proudest accomplishments and their names are Donna, Madison, and Cameron.  Donna and Scott have been married since 1993 and together share an abundance of pride and joy in raising their daughter, Madison, and son, Cameron.
From a professional perspective, Scott is most proud of the organizational recovery projects he led at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital and Affiliated to ensure the organizations continued to meet the needs of its patients and customers.  Scott has successfully demonstrated that leadership is a balance of making difficult decisions, for the right reasons, and doing so in a compassionate manner.
