EMHS Selects Cerner for Enterprise EMR

EMHS has chosen Cerner, a global leader in healthcare technology, to implement its integrated electronic medical record (EMR) system. The single EMR will replace five different systems that are in use now throughout EMHS.

“To be a truly integrated healthcare delivery system, we must communicate and perform as one entity, delivering a high quality, seamless, patient-centered experience across the care continuum,” said M. Michelle Hood, FACHE, EMHS president and CEO. “A single EMR will allow EMHS to provide continuous care as patients move throughout our system. This is the promise we make to the people of Maine.”

EMHS, like other healthcare organizations, faces financial constraints. A single integrated EMR, working with one vendor, is key to achieving performance excellence, delivering a consistent quality patient experience, and becoming a high reliability organization.

Cerner offered a new partnership arrangement, which includes providing core systems at no additional costs and risk sharing for certain new solutions.
