Glenda Dwyer Named Interim President of TAMC

5/23/2016
EMHS president and CEO M. Michelle Hood, FACHE, has named Glenda Dwyer, FACHE interim president of TAMC. Dwyer will fill the vacancy left by Sylvia Getman, TAMC’s president and EMHS senior vice president, who is departing from the organization on June 3.

Dwyer, who has been with TAMC since 1999, has served as vice president of physician services since 2007.  In this role, she has administrative oversight of all physician practices, including five primary care centers, a walk-in care clinic, and 23 specialty services.

In making the announcement, Hood said, “Glenda’s leadership skills are well proven. Her considerable knowledge of both TAMC and EMHS will serve both organizations well while we conduct a national search for a permanent president of TAMC.”

In addition to her administrative and leadership experience, Dwyer has served as chief operations officer of TAMC’s Horizons Health Services and as director of primary care.  She was also the chief executive officer of Aroostook Valley Health Center in Ashland and the operations director for Visiting Nurses of Aroostook and Hospice of Aroostook. Dwyer has an extensive background in healthcare as a staff nurse at VNA, Aroostook Valley Health Center, and TAMC.

Dwyer says she is looking forward to this new challenge. “I believe in TAMC and in what we do every day. While times of transition and change can be daunting, we are in a great place as an organization and will work together and with EMHS to continue to strengthen and grow our services and be ready for the opportunities ahead when we have a new president in place to lead us into the future.”

Dwyer holds both a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Business from Husson University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Maine and a diploma in nursing from Eastern Maine Medical Center. She begins her duties as interim president immediately and will spend the next two weeks working closing with Getman.

Getman, who has been at TAMC since 2010, has accepted a job as president and CEO at Adirondack Health in upstate New York.
