EMHS President and CEO Named Trustee of American Hospital Association Board

M. Michelle Hood, FACHE, president and CEO, EMHS, has been elected as one of eight new members of the American Hospital Association (AHA) Board of Trustees for a three year term beginning January 1, 2017.
The AHA stated in a national announcement earlier this week that the Board of Trustees is the highest policy-making body of the AHA and has ultimate authority for the governance and management of its direction and finances.
Maryjane Wurth, executive vice president for the AHA shares, “Michelle brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Board of Trustees. Not only does her health system provide care in both urban and rural areas, but it also provides leadership and services in behavioral health. Michelle is a recognized leader in the association with extensive experience in policy development discussions and will be a valued participant in board discussions.”
Hood is past chair of the AHA Section for Health Care Systems governing council and a past Regional Policy Board 1 member. She currently serves on the University of Maine System Board as the immediate past chair and on the Vizient (VHA) New England Board as the immediate past chair. In addition, Hood served as the chair of the Maine Hospital Association (MHA) for the 2013-2014 term and remains an active MHA board member.
Hood commented, “I am honored to be selected as a Trustee for the American Hospital Association Board. This will be an exciting opportunity to represent EMHS in the board room with some of the most progressive and innovative leaders in healthcare today. I look forward to collaborating with these extraordinary individuals to address a broad array of local and national issues affecting healthcare delivery across the nation, and here in Maine.”
