Vice President, System Clinical Services - Jeffrey Doran

EMHS president and CEO, M. Michelle Hood, FACHE is pleased to announce Jeff Doran has joined EMHS as the system’s first vice president of System Clinical Services.
In this new role, under the office of chief medical officer Robert Thompson, MD, MBA, Jeff is responsible for the effective and efficient operation of EMHS’ system clinical services with a focus on achieving the Triple Aim plus one—an excellent experience for our patients, improving the health of our communities, and lowering the cost of care, while providing a great environment for providers and employees to contribute to our work. Michelle Hood commented, “We look forward to having Jeff join our EMHS team. His extensive expertise in hospital and health system leadership, strategic planning, operations in support of population health, and finance will serve EMHS well as we look to more fully align our services and provide our patients with a seamless experience throughout our care continuum.”
Spending most of his professional career in the Boston region, Jeff was involved in many early population health initiatives with Massachusetts being the first state to pioneer healthcare reform in 2006 before it became national law in 2010. He says, “I have had the opportunity to see the positive effect healthcare reform has had for many uninsured Massachusetts residents. In my new role, I hope to build upon EMHS’ successes and continue to support the integration of systems that will lead to improved population health management.”
Throughout his professional career, Doran has led many successful collaborative projects, including transitioning Quincy Hospital from a struggling city-owned hospital to a privately owned hospital with a comprehensive academic and clinical affiliation with Boston Medical Center.  During the strategic repositioning process, he built strong community partnerships and maintained the trust and support of the medical staff and workforce colleagues. In recognition of this success, Hood noted, “His team-based approach to leadership and his ability to collaboratively drive results will be key to our success as we continue on our journey of becoming a model of excellence in healthcare by 2020.
Doran received his MA in Health Services Administration from George Washington University in Washington, DC, as well as a BS in Health Services Administration from Providence College in Rhode Island.
Doran will assume this role on August 17.
