EMHS Move and Improve was recognized by the Wellness Council of Maine for empowering employees to reach their full potential through wellness. The EMHS program was one out of four recipients statewide to receive the “Empower Award” during the Maine Wellness Leadership Summit held on September 24.

Nicole Hammar, lead health educator and EMHS Move and Improve coordinator commented, “We are honored to receive this award from the Wellness Council of Maine, a statewide organization aimed at building Well Workplaces through workplace health promotion. With a simple concept to ‘Move and Improve,’ our hope is that our fellow Mainers will continue engaging in activities that will promote a healthier lifestyle. Our bodies were designed to move, so let’s keep moving to improve!”

Move and Improve, now in its eighteenth year, is a community-based program designed to encourage and empower individuals to engage in a healthier lifestyle through physical activity. Each year, the program attracts a variety of participants from a number of settings, including work, school and community sites to increase the amount of physical activity on a daily/weekly basis.
