National Nursing Home Week - May 12 -18

(Bangor, Maine) – EMHS is proud to recognize and thank the residents and staff of our nursing homes as we celebrate National Nursing Home Week ®, which started on Mother’s Day, May 12 and continues through May 18, 2013.
Lisa Harvey-McPherson, RN, MBA, MPPM, vice president of EMHS Continuum of Care commented, “We recognize the staff at EMHS skilled and long term care nursing facilities that, as a team, fully bring the breadth of expertise needed to provide an exceptional patient experience. It is these individuals, along with the residents and their families, that help to bring a personalized and compassionate touch to the care we provide.”
National Nursing Home Week ® is sponsored by the American Health Care Association (AHCA). This year’s theme is “Team Care,” which honors the staff at skilled nursing facilities whose dedication and work ethic contribute to achieving excellence and high levels of satisfaction. This “Team Care” theme also emphasizes that all staff should “pitch in” to ensure quality outcomes and patient satisfaction is achieved.
During the week, nursing homes throughout EMHS will be planning activities to help commemorate National Nursing Home Week ®. Activities are designed to foster intergenerational contact, strengthen family relationships, and encourage volunteerism by individuals and organizations.
National Nursing Home Week ® gives us a chance to honor our residents, as well as the families, staff, volunteers, and community members that support our senior services. EMHS provides quality nursing home care throughout our region at Lakewood Continuing Care Center, Ross Manor, Stillwater Healthcare, Dexter Health Care, Katahdin Health Care, Colonial Health Care, and the Aroostook Health Center.
