BREWER, ME – (August 23, 2012) – EMHS is proud to announce that the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill, Ross Manor and Stillwater Health Care in Bangor, and Dexter Health Care in Dexter have received Celebrating Excellence Awards by the Maine Health Care Association (MHCA). This distinguished recognition honors employees and facilities in three distinct categories: Excellence in Caregiving – Nursing and other disciplines, Excellence in Innovative Programming Awards, and Excellence in Quality Awards.
Within the EMHS family, the following employees are being honored with the Excellence in Caregiving award: Nicole Bartlett, CNA-M, Stillwater Health Care; Kathryn Hall, director of Activities and Volunteer Services, Ross Manor; Hazel Harvey, housekeeper, Stillwater Health Care; and Vicki Jackson, activities director, Aroostook Health Center.

In addition, Stillwater Health Care has received the honor of receiving a National Quality Award by MCHA’s national organization, the American Health Care Association. The National Quality Award provides a pathway for providers of long-term care services to move towards performance excellence. A bronze award indicates the organization has committed to their quality journey and has demonstrated their ability to improve a process.
“The MHCA Celebrating Excellence Awards exemplifies the hard work, professionalism, and dedication of our employees at each of our long-term care facilities.” commented Lisa Harvey-McPherson, RN, MBA, MPPM, vice president of Continuum of Care, EMHS, “I am so proud of each and every one of our employees that strive to make a positive difference in the lives of our residents.”
The annual Celebrating Excellence Awards Program is designed to honor the best and brightest in long-term care. Awards are presented to long-term care employees and facilities that meet and exceed specific criteria that contribute to quality long-term care for our state’s elderly and disabled citizens.
