EMHS Selects Geisinger Health Plan to Administer Employee Health Benefits

EMHS and Geisinger Health Plan (GHP) are working together to administer health benefits for EMHS employees and their dependents beginning in 2013.
 
“The health and wellness of our employees and their dependents is a priority,” says EMHS president and CEO M. Michelle Hood, FACHE. “We are working with GHP to capitalize on the health plan’s experience and proven success with improving employees’ health.”
 
Geisinger Health Plan is the insurance component of Geisinger Health System, a Pennsylvania-based integrated health services organization. GHP will establish an office in the Bangor area and have staff on-site to support the program. According to the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Health Insurance Rankings 2011-2012, GHP is the top-ranked private health plan in Pennsylvania and number eight in the United States.
 
“Geisinger is helping to develop new models of care that are raising the bar for both quality and cost effectiveness,” said Glenn D. Steele Jr., MD, PhD, president and chief executive officer of Geisinger Health System. “We are developing strategic relationships outside our traditional service area with health systems interested in implementing Geisinger’s healthcare model and are very pleased to partner with EMHS for the benefit of the employees.”
