Five Seniors from EMHS Facilities Honored

(Brewer, ME) – EMHS is pleased to announce that five residents currently living in EMHS long-term care facilities were honored on Friday, April 15, during the Maine Health Care Association (MHCA) “Remember ME” ceremony held in the Hall of Flags at the Maine State House. The five recipients are Harold Borns, Jr. of Dirigo Pines in Orono, Marguerite Sherburne of Dexter Health Care in Dexter, as well as three honorary mentions - Irvin Moore of Ross Manor in Bangor, Marie McPherson of Stillwater Health Care in Bangor, and Helen Tuttle of Lakewood in Waterville.

“Remember ME” is a photography exhibit that features black and white photographs and biographies of citizens in nursing homes and assisted living facilities statewide. The primary purpose of the project is to salute the people who have spent the best years of their lives supporting their families, building their communities, and serving their state and country. The project urges the public to remember the selfless contributions of seniors and disabled citizens who now depend on others for their care and safety.

Lisa Harvey-McPherson, RN, MBA, MPPM, EMHS vice president of Continuum of Care, says, “We are proud of the contributions each and every one of our residents made to our Maine communities. We are honored every day to serve older adults and their families. Recognizing the life-long contributions of those honored serves to remind us all of the noble contributions that Maine’s seniors have made upon our state and nation. It is important we take the time to celebrate their accomplishments and say thank you.”

EMHS works to ensure that residents from Waterville to Madawaska and from Greenville to Blue Hill have access to the highest quality healthcare and services they need. Within its system, EMHS has eight long-term care facilities: Aroostook Health Center, Lakewood Continuing Care Center, and within Rosscare, in partnership with First Atlantic, Ross Manor, Sylvia Ross Home, and Stillwater Health Care in Bangor, Colonial Health Care in Lincoln, Katahdin Health Care in Millinocket, and Dexter Health Care in Dexter.
